Eight birds are sitting on a wire and 6 decide to leave. How many birds are left on the wire?
The answer is 8! Just because you make the decision to do something, it doesn't mean it's already done. You have to take the necessary actions to follow through with the decision you've made. What's stopping you? Fear that you won't succeed or you might fall behind your peers?
Here are some ways you can push past some of the obstacles:
1. Create a plan with milestones. Making a big change in your life is scary but doing it without a plan is even scarier. Don't get fed up about your current situation and quit without a backup plan. When thinking about your next venture, map out what success looks like in the next year and where you should be in 3 years. Celebrate the little milestones on the way to keep you motivated. Have a "drop dead" date in mind where you can pivot and look for something else if things go array.
2. Hoard Cash. Cash is KING! Save as much cash as you can to get you through the down times. If you are starting a new business, a year's worth of expenses will take some stress out of those periods where it's all expenses and no income. This will prevent you from taking out debt to support your lifestyle and adding more pressure to the situation.
3. Take action! If you can't make a giant leap now, take some small steps to get the ball rolling. The point is to take a step, no matter how small it may be. When you take a step, you will start a snowball that will eventually gain momentum and get you to where you want to be.
